About this Summinar
Learn about the natural forces that shaped Leelanau County over eons.
Dick Cookman will guide us through Leelanau’s geologic history beginning with the foundation of the county in the Precambrian eon.
We’ll travel through Leelanau’s tropical past and coral reefs of the Paleozoic period, then follow the region's geologic history through the Ice Age, giant mammals and evolution of the Great Lakes in the Pleistocene and post-Pleistocene period.

About the Leader
Dick Cookman received his Masters Degree in Geology from Western Michigan University and taught Geology, Astronomy and Environmental Science at Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City from 1970 to 2000.
