Joe DeFors
On Energy, The Choices We Make, The Consequences They Bring
July 13, 2 - 4 pm

We may think that the choices we make in our lives are totally rational and objective. However, sometimes subtle forces are at work that we have little awareness of, and even less control over.

With respect to the energy that powers our home and communities, these subtle forces on our choices can and do have impacts and consequences far beyond our own immediate lives.

Joe DeFors has lived in Leelanau Township since 2015 with his wife Jan after having retired from careers in the Lansing area.

Joe was a firefighter and paramedic with Lansing Fire Department for 26 years, retiring as a Battalion Chief. After a year hiatus for travel he returned to the Lansing area and started an Emergency Planning consulting firm with a friend. For the next decade they worked with schools, hospitals and communities to help them achieve greater safety in their operations.

Joe has a Bachelor degree in Biology and Math, and a Masters degree in Public Administration.

He now enjoys all the types of outdoor activities that Leelanau has to offer, domestic and international travel, and giving back to the community through his involvement with Leelanau Energy.
